Notable SFG Alumni

Despite being founded just recently in 2006, the Student Finance Group has already seen numerous former members achieve great success in the business world.  Through alumni connections, members of the Student Finance Group have contacts within many of the elite firms in finance.  Here are just a few of SFG’s more notable alumni.

Marc McGrady

Investment Banking Associate

Citigroup Global Markets, NYC

Marc McGrady was the founding President of Student Finance Group which was first formed in 2006. During his tenure, SFG was recognized as the “best organization of the year”, “best new organization of the year”, and “most outstanding program of the year – Business Quickie”.

Marc graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Finance from the University of Florida in December 2007. He also participated in the University Scholars Program, researching the “Socio-Economic Effect of Oil Production in Emerging Markets”.  Additionally, Marc had internships with Lockheed Martin and Citigroup Global Markets.

After graduation, Marc joined Citigroup Global Markets as an analyst in Public Finance Health Care Group.  His responsibilities include structuring and processing investment banking and M&A advisory services for non-profit health systems nationwide with revenues ranging from $422 million to $14 billion. He is also responsible for developing innovative capital structures to fund new hospital expansions and capital restructurings.

Marc credits the success of the Student Finance Group to all of the founders and past/current members helping to propel SFG to the top.  SFG is an invaluable platform for students to network with their peers, professors, and working professionals.

Shea Parrish

Sales and Trading Analyst

Barclays Capital, NYC

Shea Parrish joined the Student Finance Group shortly after its creation in the spring semester of 2007. After beginning involvement as a mere committee member– Shea served as Social Director, Flag Football Captain, VP of Operations, and President. During her reign as President (in collaboration with Michael Biemann in the spring) SFG enjoyed regaining the elite status of “Organization of the Year” in 2008-09.  Shea graduated from the University of Florida in the spring of 2009 with a Bachelors of Science in Finance and minor in Entrepreneurship.

Upon graduation, she began working at Barclays Capital as an analyst in the Sales & Trading program. Shea sits on the High Yield Credit desk in New York City, NY.  Shea credits the Student Finance Group with providing her vital professional skills, a superior network for gathering and sharing information, and wonderful college memories with friends. Her most cherished SFG memories are comprised of Thursday nights at Swamp, Tailgates, and various community service projects.

Adrian Aizenstat

Assistant Vice President

Special Situations Group― Homebuilder Banking

Wells Fargo Bank, N.A.

Adrian Aizenstat is an Assistant Vice President in the Special Situations Group (SSG), which was created to manage risks and losses by executing various restructuring, disposition, and workout strategies to maximize the value of a large portion of the legacy Wachovia real estate loan portfolio. In this capacity, Mr. Aizenstat identifies and executes appropriate strategies to maximize the value of particular loans/relationships and in negotiating a loan structure that protects against future deterioration in loan quality. Since joining the institution’s Homebuilder Banking Group October 2007, he has been involved in numerous real estate transactions and complex credit restructuring initiatives within an assigned $2B regional loan portfolio.

In his previous experience, Mr. Aizenstat was a Business Analyst at Siemens AG, where he led multidisciplinary development efforts in automating an inspection method of industrial generators by using thermo-imaging techniques. Additionally, Mr. Aizenstat currently serves on the Board of Directors at LASA, Inc., a privately held real estate operator where he worked as a Project Manager on select investment and development opportunities across various asset types.

Mr. Aizenstat received a B.S.B.A. in Finance from the University of Florida. He was designated as a Warrington Finance Scholar for his work within the Finance, Insurance and Real Estate Department, and as a Florida Medallion Scholar for his academic achievements. He is a recipient of the Coca-Cola Company Scholar Award and the President’s Student Service award by President George W. Bush for his exceptional community service.

Further, Mr. Aizenstat serves on the Local Arrangements Committee and as Young Leader for the Urban Land Institute. He is a member of the Latin Builders Association, the International Council of Shopping Centers, and most recently was appointed by Mayor Manny Diaz to the City of Miami’s Green Commission.

Keene Chau

Financial Products Analyst― Commodities

Keene Chau joined the Student Finance Group in the spring semester of 2008 and stayed involved until his graduation.  He has served as the organization’s Promotions Director, Vice President of Finance, and as a Special Advisor to the President.  Keene graduated from the University of Florida in the spring of 2010 with his Masters of Science in Finance degree.

Upon graduation, he began working at Wells Fargo & Co. as a financial products analyst on the commodities desk in Tulsa, OK.  He credits the Student Finance Group with providing him opportunities to network and interact with others, helping him develop his interest in a career in the financial industry during his time at the University of Florida.

Michael Biemann

Account Analyst

Pacific Investment Management Company(PIMCO)

Michael Biemann joined the Student Finance Group during the Fall of 2006.  He was a member of the Promotions Committee, served as the Promotions Director and VP of Finance, and was elected President during the Spring of 2009, when SFG was recognized as “Organization of the Year”.  While at the University of Florida, Michael graduated from the Honors College, completed an internship with Merrill Lynch, studied internationally in Thailand, and was selected to represent the college at the Maastricht International Case Competition in the Netherlands.  He was also recognized as a Warrington Finance Scholar, an Andersen Scholar, and a University Scholar for his research on hedge funds.

Michael graduated with honors from the University of Florida in Spring 2010 with a Bachelors of Science in Finance and an Environmental Studies minor.  Post-graduation he joined the Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO) in Newport Beach, California.  His experience with SFG provided some of his fondest college memories and was a tremendous opportunity to surround himself with ambitious and talented finance students.
